It worked!! My creation had no trouble printing so her is the end result:

It also works for its intended function, so here it is with makeup palettes in it!

It definitely looks nicer on my desk than all my palettes spread about so I’m happy with it!

The first thing that I did with the Raspberry Pi was install the flash drive stuff on it which took about all of class. I had no trouble installing the raspbian operating system on it. It didn’t really look like it did in the powerpoint but it all functioned correctly so here’s a picture of that now!

So, to be honest, I was kind of confused if you were saying if just that was or wasn’t enough. Anyways, I decided I would try to download another program for a different function. I chose to do OpenElec! I chose this because I thought it was really cool and I wanted to see if it would actually work. I definitely thought that all of this would be much easier. I was expecting for their to be some type of like shop where I could essentially just download it onto the Pi. Needless to say, I was thrown off guard pretty quickly. I ended up looking up a tutorial to help. At first, I was only using tutorials for Windows and I was using the Mac. The Windows tutorials instruct to also download the Win32 Disk Imager. I followed them, and every time I tried to open Win32, it would not work. Eventually, I noticed I needed to use a Mac tutorial. The tutorials had me opening my terminal and doing diskutil stuff that confused me. I kept trying to follow along and it kept failing. I soon got my sister (who is actually in school for this type of thing) to try to help figure out what I was doing wrong. She had me type in random stuff that I didn’t completely understand and made me wait forever. Finally, it worked! I plugged in the Pi and the program was up!

There might have been an easier way to do it, but to put a movie on I ended up just downloading one to a flash drive. I chose to put Step Brothers on the drive because that was the first movie that came to my sister and I’s mind. I plugged the drive into the Pi and opened the file under movies and here is the result.

So I’m actually pissed because wordpress won’t let me upload a video since I’m not premium. However, as you can see, a video is playing and my pi is plugged in to all the right ports. I’ve decided that this kind of works as a portable media player. Since I can pre download movies and stuff onto it, it’s definitely more convenient than carrying around a bunch of DVDs for sure.
For this part of the assignment, I created an organizer for my makeup pallets. The idea is just to be able to slide them into the slots. I ended up using Fusion 360 and it was fairly easy to make. I was wanting to make the edges kind of cute cutout things but I had so much trouble with it and got really annoyed. All of my pallets are different sizes, so I made the slots some different widths. The slots vary 10-20mm and they will be perfect to fit my pallets. Its a little boring but maybe I can put stickers on it or something.

My makeup pallets are what need a solution. There are too many of them and the counter is too small. They look too messy and take up too much space. I need to come up with some type of organizer to put them in so that the space looks cleaner and more spacious. I’m not sure how to show a picture of how it could be fixed without the actual product, but it will be some type of product that I can slide the pallets in slots.

This program is definitely easier than Freecad, which is the worse. I also think that it’s easier than Tinkercad in most ways. It was still kind of hard.

At first, I thought that freecad wasn’t terrible but still pretty bad. It definitely helped to have a tutorial. I was able to finish the tutorial before class on Monday, but my freecad kept crashing and it was so hard to re-upload it which contributed to me wanting to kill myself. In creating the desk cord, I created the only object that made sense to me. I was thinking of it fitting/ holding my computer charger so, with the whole being smaller, it would catch the end of my cord and keep it on the desk. With the two object assignment, I struggled so hard and ended up just making more of a kid’s toy. If you like rotate the u-shape it should fit in the hole 🙂 Please give me a good grade <3. In conclusion, Freecad is like going to hell for free, except it wasn’t free because it cost me my time, self worth, and effort. Fuck freecad xoxo 🙂

At least in the beginning, I kinda liked Tinkercad. Then I got really annoyed because not all the shapes would fit perfectly and then some of the hollow parts were not filling how I wanted. Most of them I did in class so I was okay at following along. When I got home, I tried to fix some of my other things and sometimes made it worse to where I was ready to quit again. I waited a few hours and then I randomly got in the mood to want to try the aviators. Tbh, I think that the tinkercad gods decided to shine light down on me cause I have no idea how I did these so well. It took forever but I somehow had patience so that’s cool. Overall, the flask was definitely my worst. In hind site, I now notice that I probably should have hollowed out the individual pieces and grouped each before putting it together but thought of starting over on it really made me wanna die so I figured it was fine 🙂 Anyways, here are all of my things:

The first time that we met during class we just decided that we wanted to do some type of storyline choices game. The next time that we met, we actually started on the app and had a lot of trouble at first trying to get the buttons to move to the middle of the screen, but we figured it out. Since you can only have one person on the account at a time, it’s been a little hard to find ways to contribute since I don’t know that much about appinventor. However, I have been helping form all of the different the storylines for our app depending on what choices you make. We finished the storyline yesterday and were moving along until we noticed that we can’t have more than 10 screens. We are still trying to figure out a way around this because it’s so annoying so fingers crossed it works out! Here’s an awkward pic at the library of us working on it:

So in class I kind of understood what we were doing with the potato app, but then we started to add more and I really had no clue what was going on or what most of the building block things we were adding were. I definitely opted for just copying exactly what was in the board or screen and that worked out. I got the app to work the right way by just copying pretty fast, so then I decided to kind of try to customize it. I was immediately pretty annoyed because it’s so hard to center anything on that app. I basically just ended up changing the backgrounds and colors and sizes and small stuff like that. Whenever I was out of class, I decided to just try to add more to this app because I was sure I could not start from scratch and this way I could make more of an effort than following a tutorial word for word. I decided to add a sound for whenever it transitions to the winning screen. I went to freesound, and they didn’t have the cheer sound of like the little kids that I wanted so I had to try harder to find it which was a little annoying. Thankfully, I used to download music all the time so I just went to a vid to mp3 converter to find the right sound. Somehow I figured out the right building blocks on the first try so that was exciting and upon the second screen appearing the cheering sounds immediately! I also did about however much customizing I could figure out to make it look cute and added more sounds . I kinda quickly got so over how annoying it is to do simple actions on the app but I lowkey felt kinda accomplished with what I did do so that’s fun and trying to cleanse my mind of anger from the app. So here’s my thing:
